Tangy Coleslaw

Raw vegetables bring the crunch to this iconic summer side

Somehow both hearty and light, refreshing and filling, this coleslaw is a wonderful accompaniment to any BBQ.


Ingredients (primary):

  • 1/2 head cabbage, shredded

  • 2 large carrots, shredded

  • 1/2 cup green pepper, finely chopped

  • 2 tablespoons onion, finely chopped

Ingredients (dressing):

  • 1/4 cup sugar

  • 3 tablespoons vinegar

  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil

  • 1 teaspoon celery seeds

  • 1/2 teaspoon non-iodized salt

Directions:

  1. In a large bowl, combine cabbage, carrots, green pepper, and onion.

  2. In a jar with a tight-fitting lid, combine dressing ingredients; shake well.

  3. Pour over cabbage mixture and toss.

  4. Cover and chill 4 hours before serving.
