Hot Fudge Pudding Cake

Rich, chocolatey, and smooth, this mouth-watering dessert is decadence in a slice. For a special treat, this cake is hard to beat. (Contributed by Brenda H.)

Whether you’re wooing your valentine or simply craving a special treat, this hot fudge pudding cake will have you melting with temptation.


Ingredients (batter):

  • 3/4 cup sugar

  • 1 cup flour

  • 3 Tablespoons cocoa

  • 2 teaspoons baking powder

  • 1/4 teaspoon salt

  • 1/2 cup water

  • 1/3 cup corn oil

  • 1 1/2 teaspoons vanilla

Ingredients (topping):

  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar

  • 1/2 cup brown sugar

  • 4 Tablespoons cocoa

  • 2 teaspoons instant coffee (optional)

Directions:

  1. Mix first five dry batter ingredients.

  2. Add water, oil, and vanilla.

  3. Mix until smooth.

  4. Pour batter into 8x8x2 inch or 9x9x2 inch greased pan.

  5. Mix topping ingredients and sprinkle over batter.

  6. Pour 1 1/4 cups hot water over top (use 1 1/2 cups for more pudding).

  7. DO NOT STIR.

  8. Bake at 350 degrees F for 40 minutes until the center is almost set. Let stand 15 minutes.
