Homemade barbecue sauce…Yes, please! (Contributed by the Thyroid, Head and Neck [THANC] Foundation)
Bring this barbecue sauce to your next summer outing. It won’t disappoint!
2 cups no-salt ketchup (Heinz and others make this)
¼ cup cider vinegar
2 tablespoons honey
1 tablespoon no salt mustard
¼ cup brown sugar
1 teaspoon kosher salt, or non-iodized table salt
1 teaspoon garlic powder
1 teaspoon onion powder
¼ teaspoon ground pepper
Mix all ingredients together in a pot.
Simmer on low heat for 20 to 30 minutes until well blended.
Let cool then transfer to a jar. You can store this in the refrigerator for 8 to 12 weeks.
